What it is hCG? (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin): It is a hormone produced during pregnancy by the cells that form the placenta. This hormone is detected in serum blood around day 11 after conception; it is detected in the urine around 12-14 days after conception. While it is most commonly associated with pregnancy, it is present in both genders.

What it does in the body: hCG signals the hypothalamus (area of the brain that affects metabolism) to mobilize fat stores. In pregnancy, this helps the body bring nutrients into the placenta, fueling the fetus with the energy to grow.

There are 3 Kinds of Fats:
1. Structural Fat: In the human body we can distinguish three kinds of fat. The first is the structural fat which fills the gaps between various organs, a sort of packing material. Structural fat also performs such important functions as bedding the kidneys in soft elastic tissue, protecting the coronary arteries and keeping the skin smooth and taut, it also provides the springy cushion of hard fat under the bones of the feet, without which we would be unable to walk.

2. Normal Fats: The second type of fat is a normal reserve of fuel upon which the body can freely draw when the nutritional income from the intestinal tract is insufficient to meet the demand. Such normal reserves are localized all over the body. Fat is a substance which packs the highest caloric value into the smallest space so that normal reserves of fuel for muscular activity and the maintenance of body temperature can be most economically stored in this form. Both these types of fat, structural and reserve, are normal, and even if the body stocks and stores them to capacity this can never be called obesity.

3. Abnormal Fats: This is what you are after for weight loss. This is the third type of fat which is entirely abnormal. It is the accumulation of such fat, and of such fat only, from which the overweight patient suffers. This abnormal fat is also a potential reserve of fuel, but unlike the normal reserves it is not available to the body in a nutritional emergency. It is, so to speak, locked away in a fixed deposit and is not kept in a current account, as are the normal reserves.

Why do the hCG Protocol Diet verses the traditional, low caloric, low carb, commercialized weight loss diets?

When an obese patient tries to reduce by starving himself, he will first lose his normal fat reserves. When these are exhausted he begins to burn up structural fat, and only as a last resort will the body yield its abnormal reserves, though by that time the patient usually feels so weak and hungry that the diet is abandoned. It is just for this reason that obese patients complain that when they diet they lose the wrong fat. They feel famished and tired and their face becomes drawn and haggard, but their belly, hips, thighs and upper arms show little improvement. The fat they have come to detest stays on and the fat they need to cover their bones gets less and less. Their skin wrinkles and they look old and miserable. And that is one of the most frustrating and depressing experiences a human being can have.

What the hCG hormone does to curb your hunger?

How the hCG protocol cycle works

26 hCG Protocol:
· Phase 1: Loading Phase. Eat for 2 Days… injections start.
o Start injections on day 1 of phase 1.
o 23 day plan, 24 days of 500 calorie diet
125 I.U. of HCG daily (except during menstruation, unless you are on HRT and menstruating) injections every day.

43 hCG Protocol:
o 40 day Plan
125 I.U. of HCG daily (except during menstruation) injections, skip one day of injections (usually Sunday is best) on the 43 day program only to avoid immunity to hCG. 26 Day program does not require a day break.

· Phase 2: Start 500 Cals per day for 24 to 41 days (first two days eat whatever you want as much as you want remember) The hCG injections end 3 days prior to the end of the 500 calorie diet)

· Phase 3: Maintenance – After last injection period + 72 hours - For the next 3 weeks, you can eat all foods allowed, except high flour type carbohydrates, any starchy foods and sugar in any form (be careful with very sweet fruit as it has more sugar and more carbohydrates). Over the next 3 weeks, very gradually add starch or flour type carbs in small quantities, always controlled by morning weighing. If you gain over 2 lbs in one day it is very important you skip breakfast and lunch the following day and eat a 6 oz steak and one tomato or apple for dinner. This is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the program. It’s vital you follow this very important phase. If you lose more than 2 lbs from your ending weight it is important you eat more protein and eat 2 eggs for breakfast, steak for lunch and dinner the next day. You are losing muscle mass otherwise. Not fat. This phase is to STABILIZE your weight and reset your metabolism.

Phase 1 - The Loading Phase - HCG Protocol – (have fun)

The first phase of the HCG Protocol lasts 2 days, but may be expanded to 6 days for individuals who have a severely damaged metabolism or for chronic dieters. You must fill your normal fat cells during this phase. Do not miss this phase.

Phase 2 - Rapid Weight Loss – Starts day 3.

The second phase of Dr. Simeons' Protocol produces dramatic weight loss that is incredibly satisfying for the hCG dieter and almost unbelievable for everyone else.

You may be wondering if there are enough choices of foods that you would like to eat or you may have food allergies to consider.

For many, believing and accepting the rapid weight loss with hCG is perhaps the most difficult part of the diet. This isn't surprising, since we've all been taught to lose 1-2 pounds per week, then suddenly a diet claims to produce that type of weight loss every day!

Those who ignore the skeptics and try the hCG Protocol find they rapidly lose weight without excessive hunger. Men tend to average a little over a pound per day, while women can expect to lose about 1/2 to 1 pound per day. The weight loss is more dramatic in the beginning and tends to slow during the last week. Keep this in mind as you do the 26 to 43 day cycle.

In Phase 2, the intake of hCG continues, but a VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) of 500 calories replaces the heavy eating from Phase 1. The most important concept to understand about Phase 2 is how incredibly reactive the body is to any variance away from the eating plan. It is CRITICAL that every part of the hCG Protocol is followed exactly. Even the smallest changes can produce large gains in weight and set back additional weight loss for almost 3 days. Cheating and not following the protocol can see weight gains of 2 to 4 lbs fast and it can take days to come off. Stay on purpose. It will make all the difference to you. What to eat in Phase 2 Eating Plan - hCG Protocol

1. Breakfast: Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. One tablespoonful of milk per day. Saccharin or Stevia may be used as sweeteners.

2. Lunch: 3.5 oz (100g) weighed before cooking of veal, beef, and chicken breast without bone, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp with all visible fat removed. No additional fat or sprays can be used to boil or grill food. Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed. Turkey is not allowed.

a. Vegetable: ONE choice per meal from Asparagus, onions, tomatoes, spinach, celery, cucumbers, cabbage, green salad, chard, chicory, beet-greens, fennel, or red radishes.

b. Fruit: ONE choice of an apple, orange, handful of strawberries or 1/2 of a grapefruit.

c. Breads: One bread stick (grissino) or one Melba toast (20 calorie variety).

d. Condiments and spices: Salt, pepper, chili powder, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram and other spices may be used for seasoning. Vinegar and the juice of one lemon daily are allowed. No oils, dressings or commercial spice mixes (contain cornstarch and sugar).

e. Drinks: 2 liters minimum per day. Coffee, tea, water or mineral water in any quantity.

No more than four items listed for lunch or dinner may be eaten at one meal.

3. Dinner: Same choices as lunch, but vary your choices to create variety.

4. Snacks: Fruit or bread stick may be eaten as a snack instead of as part of the meals

Food Portions
Inject a daily dose of hCG during the weight loss portion of the diet, and consume only 500 calories a day from choices in the above menu. Eat one item from each of the four categories for dinner and lunch each per day, no two of the same type to be eaten at the same time:

100-120 calories from lean protein,
30 to 90 calories from vegetables, and fruit.
20 calories from the breadstick

Cook food by steaming, broiling, baking or grilling, but do not add any extra fats. Season your food with lemon juice, raw apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, chili, garlic or any herbs.

Proteins – 100 grams (approximately 3.5 oz)
o Consume protein sources from lean meats, such as lean beef and chicken breast, seafood such as shrimp, lobster and crab, white fish such as tilapia, halibut and striped bass, or if you are a vegetarian one whole egg with three additional whites. You can add other lean meats such as bison and venison to your diet. Eating egg is the most recommended meat substitute for vegetarians. Other accepted vegetarian options are a 16-ounce glass of skim milk or 3.5 ounces of fat-free cottage cheese, though often at the cost of slower weight loss. Some vegetarians also use protein powders derived from hemp, whey or rice to replace animal protein.
· Vegetables -
o Choose from spinach, chard, chicory, beet greens, lettuce, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, radishes, cucumbers, asparagus or cabbage for your vegetable servings. Do not mix different types of vegetables in a serving. Some people eat broccoli while on the diet with no ill effects, while others find that this vegetable inhibits their weight loss. Some people mix different vegetables in a serving, though the original diet instructs you not to do so. From experience, you will see less results if you follow these alternative options.
Fruits -
o Choose from an apple, an orange, strawberries or one half grapefruit for your fruit serving. Do not replace an orange with a tangerine, as tangerines are higher in sugar. Eat fruit that is fresh and not dried, canned or precooked, but you can cook it yourself.
· Bread Stick – One bread stick (grissino) or one Melba toast (20 calorie variety)
· Beverages - Drink about 2 liters of fluids per day.
o Choose from black, green and white teas, coffee and water. Include caffeinated beverages, but drink additional caffeine-free beverages to make up your fluid quota for the day. Add lemon juice or Stevia extract to flavor water.

Acceptable Foods for hCG Protocol
Kitchen Scale - To accurately weigh portions you must have a scale that is accurate to one-tenth of an ounce. Using grams is a more accurate method than ounces (28 grams = 1 ounce). I’d recommend a postal scale. You can buy one at an office supply store.

Well what happens when you don't lose that 1 or 2 lbs a day? Or you don't lose anything for several days?
· Apple day is how you can overcome not losing weight for a few days. When you stop losing weight for a few days, it can draw on your emotions and motivation. For this reason, enjoy 6 apples (only) the next day with only enough water to quince your thirst. I have seen many people lose 1 to 2 lbs by the next day.

More rules about the daily eating schedule:
o The 100 grams of protein must be carefully weighed raw after any visible fat has been removed. Any foods listed may be omitted, but the 500 calorie limit cannot be exceeded. Calories not eaten cannot be carried forward from one day to the next.
o The meals may be broken up and eaten throughout the day, but the daily ration of 2 breadsticks or 2 fruits can never be eaten at the same time. HCG should be taken daily, missing more than one day will lead to problems. The chicken breast cannot be substituted with turkey or other fowl, nor does it mean a wing or a drumstick of chicken.

o The diet must not exceed 500 calories per day; equally important are the sources of the calories. While there are many fruits and vegetables that are not on the diet that have equal or lower calories, they cannot be substituted for those listed on the diet. Pimiento peppers, okra, artichokes, pears and turkey are examples of this.

o Because of its higher fat content, red meat should not be eaten more than once per day.

o The diet works for the small elderly grandmother, the same way it does for the giant young linebacker. This happens because the pathway is the same - the dieter is living off their fat reserves instead of the fat that is eaten.

o HCG Protocol Personal Care Products: HCG makes the body very reactive to fats. It becomes so sensitive to fats that even the application of fats through lotions, moisturizers and even make-up must be eliminated. No medicines or cosmetics other than lipstick, eyebrow pencil and powder may he used without special permission.

Phase 3: The Stabilization Phase (3 Wks) –
Don’t miss this one! It’s the most important.
If the last HCG injection occurred at 7:00 a.m. on a Monday, Phase 3 would begin at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday. The HCG Phase 2 Diet is followed until the 72 hour period has been completed.

HCG Protocol Phase 3 Begins Once:
· The ideal weight is achieved, or (Min 26 days for protocol – If you achieve your weight before 23 days, you can increase calories up to 1,000 per day, but watch daily weight and do not exceed 2 lbs higher then lowest weight, if you do, resume 500 calories diet.
· After the 26rd or 43th day cycle is complete.

HCG Protocol Phase 3 Eating Plans:
· In the first 3 weeks of Phase 3, you may eat anything you'd like except starches and sugars, but the amount that is eaten is controlled by your morning weight. If you gain more than 2 lbs, then adjust your intake to drop back to your end of Cycle 2 weight.

· The bodyweight should become stable and should not have dramatic swings upward after an occasional intake of excess calories. According to Dr. Simeon, "If no carbohydrates whatsoever are eaten, fats can be indulged in somewhat more liberally and even small quantities of alcohol, such as a glass of wine with meals, does no harm, but as soon as fats and starch are combined things are very liable to get out of hand. This has to be observed very carefully during the first 3 weeks after the treatment is ended otherwise disappointments are almost sure to occur.

People will ask… “What can I do for snacks on Phase 3 “P3”? It’s just so hard to stay away from the sugar and everything has starch in it.” ”What do I eat?” HELP! I hear that a lot. As you probably know, P3 is that point in the HCG Protocol where your body stabilizes and you can eat more variety of foods but must avoid starches and sugars for a period of three weeks. It can be challenging to choose foods that don’t cause you to gain. So, I compiled a list of some of my favorite snacks while on P3. These snacks shouldn’t cause any problems with P3 of the HCG Protocol and are so very good for you. As always in P3, you must check ingredients for hidden sugars and starches in most foods and enjoy nuts in moderation.

How much to eat during phase 3?
It is important to eat an adequate amount of protein and enough food. A good rule of thumb is to double your intake of protein and triple the amount of calories. Instead of 2 servings of 3.5 oz. of protein (100g), you would have 2 servings of 7 oz. (200g), with a daily target of about 1,500 calories. These numbers would be adjusted based upon your hunger and daily weigh-in to maintain your weight in the 4 pound target range.

Ideas of what to eat for Phase 3:
· A handful of raw almonds. These sure stave off hunger and are handy to keep in your purse or car for a quick snack. Super good for you with healthy fats and vitamins.
· An apple with 2 Tbs. peanut butter (no sugar, all natural variety) or toss apple slices with a handful of walnuts and add a sprinkle of cinnamon and Stevia. Yum!
· A piece of string cheese and a piece of fruit
· A turkey roll up with a slice of turkey breast, provolone, tomato, and mustard in a lettuce wrap.
· Cottage cheese with salsa. Enjoy by itself or as a dip and serve with raw veggies. I like it extra spicy.
· Fresh mixed berries with cream or half and half. I particularly love to add a little milk chocolate flavored Stevia to fresh strawberries and cream. Very decadent and absolutely delicious.
Additionally, after about 43 days, the body adjusts to the daily injections of HCG and the cycle should be ended. This is what makes the last 7 days of Phase 2 is so important. The key signals are hunger and difficulty losing further weight. As the body becomes resistant to HCG, hunger returns and the cycle should be ended.

Skipping a Meal if you gain weight on phase 3.
As long as their weight stays within two pounds of the weight reached on the day of the last injection, patients should take no notice of any increase but the moment the scale goes beyond two pounds, even if this is only a few ounces, they must on that same day entirely skip breakfast and lunch but take plenty to drink. In the evening they must eat a huge steak with only an apple or a raw tomato. Of course this rule applies only to the morning weight. Ex-obese patients should never check their weight during the day, as there may be wide fluctuations and these are merely alarming and confusing.

** Why do some people fail to keep the weight off and enjoy the benefits of the hCG Protocol? Here is the top reason (and maybe the ONLY reason):
Not following Dr. Simeons original program that REQUIRES eating a low/no-carb diet and no sugar for 3 weeks after completing the hCG Protocol

Working out on the hCG Protocol Diet:
By burning 500 calories a day, you will essentially be burning only fat as fuel. This will neutralize the 500 calorie days and force your body to use more fat as fuel and increase your weight loss by an addition pound a day. Drink allowable drinks all day.

Importance of not doing a lot – It is best to just do mild exercising while on the diet, and begin with more strenuous exercise in the stabilization phase. Walking, mild swimming, zero resistance biking – generally 30 -45 minutes 3 times a week is sufficient.

What happens if I fail the program?
Some people will fail, some people will not want it bad enough and those people will have the option to do it all over again. You will have to wait 6 weeks however until you start it again. Yes, 6 weeks. You will most likely gain all your weight back and more in some cases. You will be shocked and disappointed; you will have basically wasted your time. But did you? Na, you have the experience to start this over and complete it this time. Who wants to do this twice if you do not have to? I have seen people do this 3 times and the 3rd time, they got it! They said they did not want to do it another time and that was enough “purpose” to have the “will power” to make it through the last time.

Helpful tips while on the protocol:
· Never cross the limit of 500 calories per day. If you fail to stick to the VLCD, the HCG intake would be of no use.
· This is a protocol of not just food, but mental preparation as well. This also involves planning of how you are going to handle the day-to-day situations that will derail you, the roadblocks you may come across, and how you are going to handle them. · Take the time to memorize the protocol and make sure your schedule is ready to take on your new diet. Spend time planning your meals and shopping for the foods allowed on the protocol.

· For the fast meal: precook some chicken (weigh your portions first) and wash and dry full heads of lettuce, store these in the refrigerator. These preparations ahead of time allow you to prepare a quick dinner of chicken salad. Make a dressing out of lemon, apple cider vinegar and fresh pepper. This is great when you want an enormous portion; it's difficult to eat too much lettuce (low calories).

· Don’t be afraid of hunger because hunger is a feeling (physical sensation) not a fact.

· Never miss the HCG doses. Irregularity of dosage may hinder your weight loss process.

· In the beginning it is best not to totally rely on your memory and check every meal against the diet list before starting to eat. Keep a food diary with everything you eat and the times it was consumed. Include your morning weight and how much was lost from the day before.

· Avoid alcohol at any cost. It can be hazardous to your health. The obese people have higher risk of heart attack from the alcohol.

· Never be overenthusiastic about your food while you are with friends or in restaurants. You should not get carried away by someone’s persuasion. You can always go back to “Purpose” and stay on track.

· Never use the oil-based cosmetics and other lifestyle products. Their water based counter parts are available in the market. Read the ingredient table before buying.

· Don’t forget to wear latex gloves while cooking. The oil or fat contained in them can get deposited through the skin pores.
· Review your goals and stay on purpose of the decision you decided to start the hCG Protocol. It can take up to 21 days to change a habit.

· Remember that the HCG is providing more than enough fat and nutrients to meet your needs.

There are some powerful ways to deal with temptation:
· Get the support of family and friends, who can help you stay on the right track;

· Avoid looking at food for long periods of time-- food in advertising is meant to hypnotize you. Refuse to be hypnotized; Look around you, look at all the overweight people. It’s out of control.

· Avoid social situations that you know will tempt you to cheat; Timing is crucial, after you reset your body and follow the 3 week phase 3 program after the injections, you will be able to go to parties, events, etc and you will eat what you want, you will find yourself not eating as much and you will be wearing some very nicely fitted cloth’s again.

Have an HCG weight loss

Expect to have cravings, be hungry and moody and expect to want to cheat, these expectations will let you be prepared to control the cravings, hunger, moods and cheats. Prepare yourself for these feelings, but know that the decision to deviate is yours……….stay strong and remember that only you are accountable for everything you put into your mouth.

If you go forward and cheat, you will have to take responsibility for that cheat. It may leave you feeling guilty and unsatisfied. Cheating (even what may be perceived as just a small slip-up) is a mistake you will pay for up to 3-5 days. This can be 3 -5 days of the scale going up, or staying the same, potentially you could even gain more than if you were not on HCG. This makes cheating on this plan a waste of time and money…. NOT WORTH IT!

This was my purpose for writing this booklet. It was to give you guide lines to help make it through this short 26 to longer 43 day cycle. It’s not that long of time in the whole scheme of your life span. Just imagine, in 26 to 43 days, you will have lost 15 to 43 lbs. This is amazing! And True!

Summary of mistakes that can be made while using the hCG Protocol:
· Body washing with oily soaps…
· Cooking without gloves around oils. You cannot allow oil to touch your skin.

· Drink enough water 2 liter a day.
· Have a plan or setting goals – Need to make the plan that is bigger than the urge to cheat.

· Having stress in your life.

· Break your eating habits, being able to eat just 2 meals a day.
· Sabotaged by friends and family, Temptations, Use your desires to not let this happen.
· Being disappointed and not losing weight fast enough
· Timing; start date. Think about vacations, x-mas, parties, etc Be able to allow 6 to 8 weeks to complete
· Using bad products, Nose, Oral, Shots - Using sub-standard hCG from questionable sources
· Eating sugars and starches following the 3 week after phase 2.
· Eating for 2 days at the beginning of the plan – Your body needs to get ready.
· Buy a scale to measure your food correctly.
· Have a grocery list to start phase 2. It’s vital that you stay ahead of your days with Proteins, Veggies, Fruits and Beverages such as tea, water, coffee supplies. I would suggest to be 5 days ahead and shop with 2 days left of supplies.
· Water, think about buying Dasan bottled water, or bottled water that does not have florid or chlorine in it. You are required to drink 2 litters a day. This is a lot simpler than it sounds. Keep drinking, it helps flush out all the fat from your body.
· Pre-set up your foods in advance. If you have all your foods pre-bagged, it will be a very simple process for you to reach for what you need and not be tempted by other foods.
· Omega 3 fatty acids, and Flax-seed oil. These oils can increase you daily caloric input which can cause weight gain. Only take prescribed medication is you must in order to treat a chronic health condition.
· Using Artificial Sweeteners: Fat Free Products. There are few people who can resist the taste of sweet foods. However, the use of these sweeteners can lead to problems such as dental cavities, obesity and the health complications related to being overweight and obese (for example, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease). For these reasons and more, the use of these products will inhibit your maximum weight loss while on the HCG diet protocol.
· Fat Free Products: Fat substitutes are chemical compounds incorporated into foods to give them the qualities of fat, like moisture retention and texture. More than 90% of American adults reported eating low or Sugar-Eating ANYTHING with sugar: the slightest amount of sugar ingested while on the HCG diet cold cause a stall in weight loss for up to 3 days or more!

· Not hydrating properly: Not drinking enough water and fluids with cause dehydration. The more water you body needs, the more water your body will hold on too. By property hydrating your body, you will release more water and lose more weight!
· Excess Exercise: Over working the muscles will cause the need for your muscle to repair the damage. The muscles will surround itself with water so the can heal and build more muscle. This process will cause you to gain weight and keep your weight loss erratic.

· Vitamins and oils: many HCG dieters do not heed the warning of not taking over the counter supplement and vitamins. Some of these supplements contain oils which are high in calories, like Omega 3 fatty acids, and Flax-seed oil. These oils can increase you daily caloric input which can cause weight gain. Only take prescribed medication is you must in order to treat a chronic health condition.

A: The manual has great information that describes the original research by Dr. Simeons and explains how the method was determined to work. It may be helpful to understand the science behind the effects of hCG.

Q: How bad is it if I miss the medial glute muscle with the injection (lot of fat back there & I've never given injections so just curious)?

A:There are no adverse side effects if you miss the medial glute. The medial glute is located just posterior to the pelvic bone (hip) in the upper outer quadrant of the buttock. If that seems impossible to do, use the shorter needle and inject into the quadriceps muscle of the upper outer thigh.

Q: If I cheat a little, do I still do the hCG or stop and restart?

A:If you cheat while on hCG just resume the 500 calorie diet the next day as usual. It might delay weight loss by a couple of pounds since you will most likely gain some weight, but it will come off again in 1-3 days. It isn't worth cheating because the loss in gains is huge!

Q: I am on birth control pills; is it ok to do the protocol while on them?

A:There are no contraindications of being on birth control pills while doing hCG

Q: Can I start and stop the shots during the protocol?
A: No, you have to stay with it for the entire time. If you stop, you have to wait 6 weeks to start again.
Q: I want to go out on the weekends and eat with my friends, but then restart the on Monday, can I do this?
A: No, you cannot do this and expect this to work at all. In fact, you may gain back more weight than you started with. Buckle down for the 23 to 43 days and you will be happy you did. I have not seen one person fail if applied correctly, You have a 100% shot at this working for you if you follow the program.
