Donate to the Study
Most studies on major health issues like heart disease and diabetes were performed on men
and the results were just assumed to be relevant to women. They weren’t. The much-touted
Women’s Health Initiative was ill-conceived and at best, misguided. It studied women over 65
years-old on synthetic drugs with hormone-like effects. All they proved was that these drugs,
Premarin and Prempro, are unsafe for post-menopausal women with multiple previous
disease states. It’s pretty apparent to any of us paying attention that the government isn’t
terribly interested in women’s health or our comfort levels on any issue. The last time we were
between this rock and a hard place, we, together, took control. It was 1840, in London for
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and again in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York. It was 1851 in Akron,
Ohio for Sojourner Truth. It was 1860 in New York for Susan B. Anthony. It was 1915 in New
York for Alice Paul, 1935 for Mary McLeod Bethune, 1963 for Betty Freidan, 1971 for Gloria
Steinem. Maybe it will be 2009 for us. It could be.
It’s time to do it again. TS Wiley has addressed the Senate on the validity of Compounded
Hormones, acquired not one, but two IRB numbers sanctioning studies on the Wiley Protocol
and is in discussion with representatives of the upcoming continuation of the WHI which
started in the fall of 2008.
NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS PAY FOR IT. If you’d like to contribute to finding an answer to
the issues of safety and efficacy in hormone replacement for women sooner than later

For The Men In Your Life
than Viagra. My male business has exploded. Plus I have become quite
proficient on tweaking the Wiley Protocol for Women™. It’s amazing.”
Robert Apgar, MD, North Carolina
Hormone replacement for men? T.S. Wiley thinks so and that is why she
developed The Wiley Protocol for Men™ for the men in your life, to restore
lust and love, sleep, muscle mass, and bone health, and help to reduce
depression. The Protocol uses testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone
(DHEA) in a rhythmic, youthful physiologic dosing for health and antiaging.
Andropause is defined as an age-related decline in serum testosterone
levels in older men to below the normal range in young men. Often
referred to as the male “menopause” it is associated with a syndrome that
may include decreased muscle strength and/or endurance, decreased
pubic and increased underarm hair, reduced physical function, diminished
libido, fatigue, depressed mood, decreased generalized well-being, hot
flashes, osteoporosis/osteopenia, and anemia.
A multi-year study showed that mean total testosterone levels
decreased by 30 percent in men between the ages of 25 and 75
and mean free-testosterone levels decreased by as much as 50
percent. Men may not live as long if they have low testosterone,
regardless of their age, according to a new study from
Germany.
The study looked at death from any cause in nearly 2,000 men
aged 20 to 79 years with an average follow up time of seven
years. At the beginning of the study, 5 percent of these men
had low blood testosterone levels, defined as the lower end of
the normal range for young adult men.
The men with low testosterone were older, more obese, and had a greater prevalence of
diabetes and high blood pressure, compared with men who had higher testosterone levels. Men
with low testosterone levels had more than a 2.5 times greater risk of dying during the next 10
years compared to men with higher testosterone. This difference was not explained by age,
smoking, alcohol intake, level of physical activity, or increased waist circumference (a risk factor
for diabetes and heart disease).
Why must aging men with low testosterone, and men with prostate cancer, simply have to
accept the loss of libido, energy, risk-taking, sleep and muscle mass to fight depression and the
inevitability of man breasts and snoring that comes with changes in the hormone balance?
A growing body of research says that low testosterone levels can be associated with an
increased risk of prostate cancer. A standard treatment option for prostate cancer is androgen
deprivation therapy (ADT), in which drugs or castration is used to reduce the testosterone
levels in the prostate (and the rest of the body). Unfortunately virtually all patients treated with
ADT progress to metastatic disease. Men with prostate cancer who are being treated with ADT
increase their risk of developing bone- and heart-related side effects compared to patients who
do not take these medications, according to a new study. ADT can cause a variety of side
effects including skeletal and cardiovascular complications, sexual dysfunction, periodontal
disease, and mood disorders.
Studies of men with a history of prostate disease suggest that it may be low testosterone that
indicates an increase in disease activity. Further, supplementing with testosterone may not only
be safe but inhibit tumor cell growth.
The Wiley Protocol for Men rhythm is based on four-day sun cycles and magnetism. By
contrast, the Wiley Protocol for Women™ is controlled by moon rhythms and light. Testosterone
and DHEA (a precursor of testosterone and other sex hormones) are used with the rhythm of
the sun cycles; DHEA is only applied in the morning when men’s androgens normally peak.
Dose elevations occur every four days rather than every three days to allow DHEA to create
more receptors for testosterone. Wiley is tracking the men who have had prostate cancer who
are using the Wiley Protocol to provide data on this issue.
We know that biomimetic rhythmic, cyclical hormone replacement can restore quality of life.
Wiley’s Protocol for Men is the wave of the future, and as men become aware of this option,
they will have a choice about aging.

WHAT IS A WILEY PROTOCOL COMPOUNDING PHARMACY?
What is a Wiley Protocol Registered™ Compounding Pharmacy? T.S. Wiley has licensed the use of her name only to compounding pharmacies that agree to make your hormones the same way, with the same ingredients, from the same place, at the same price and in the same packaging every time, everywhere. A WP Registered Compounding Pharmacy is one that has licensed the use of the specific protocol that T.S. Wiley has scientifically developed. In order to do so the pharmacy must legally agree to make the hormones to the specific high standards set by T. S. Wiley. The following must remain constant: that compound the authentic Wiley Protocol. You may also do an EXTENDED SEARCH to find a pharmacist by name , location, certification, or by product.

How Hormones Work In the Body

Why should women not take birth control pills/patch/IUD/vaginal ring
In 1998, Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals began a study on their synthetic hormones (Premarin and Prempro) on 16,608 postmenopausal women. I know, you guys are young, so who cares, right? Wrong! This study PROVED that oral synthetic hormones are bad for us!! They had to stop the study 3 years early because women were dying! They found in the 4-5 short years the study did go on (it was supposed to be an 8 year study) that women had an increase in breast cancer by 26%, strokes by 41%, heart attacks by 29%, Alzheimers dementia by 76% and 2 times increase in bloodclots. Well, birth control pills and synthetic progestins are the SAME STUFF! They just have different names.
Birth control pills make women's body look like my peri-menopause women. They aren't ovulating! That means you get the same symptoms as 35-45 year old women. i.e. you're aging faster!! Weight gain around the middle, dry skin, low libido, moodswings, more yeast infections, more UTI's, more joint aches, more irritability, more anxiety, etc. etc. It's a painful irony that when we are young and have everything to lose (our fertility and potential for genetic immortality) many of us eagerly tossed back hormones made out of mutated synthetic estrogens, fake progesterone, and even, sometimes testosterone. And when birth control pills first came onto the market in the 1960's (generation of "free love") doctors who prescribed them had no idea they might impact our future fertility or what those hormones might be doing to us physically by preventing pregnancy. We have figured out NOW how toxic these synthetic hormone "drugs" like PremPro can really be.
So let's understand what is happening. In a normal cycle, estrogen causes the uterus lining to grow and progesterone then occupies the estrogen receptor site for two weeks out of the cycle every month and if conception does not occur, the uterus lining is shed. When two drugs are packaged together what you get is no resemblance to what goes on hormonally in your body. In reality the static, chronic dose of fake progesterone (progestin) in combination with a synthetic estrogen actually blocks the estrogen's effect every day. So any benefits known from estrogen in heart, brain, and breast are lost or diminished. The birth control pill not only increases your risk of cancer, but also causes heart disease. It does have side effects. The hormones made in your body really don't!

Why Should Women Replace Their Hormones?

Links Between Hormones and Cancer
The market for cancer therapeutics is huge and growing by double-digits annually. This phenomenal growth is fueled especially in the area of biologic drugs. Globally, more than 10 million people are affected by cancer annually, a number that is expected to increase 2.4 percent each year through 2020 up to 14 million. Common cancers include breast, bladder, cervical colon/rectum, esophageal, liver, lung, prostate and stomach cancer.
Among the key trends of current cancer therapies including chemotherapy and biotherapeutics, is hormone therapy. Much research is needed but in a July 9, 2008 www.BreastCancer.org article, we learn some of the details about how estrogen and progesterone play roles in the development of certain breast cancers.
T.S Wiley has long believed that hormone therapy could affect breast cancer, and she touched upon it in her book Sex, Lies, and Menopause.
The article details how estrogen sends signals through the hormone receptors that tell breast cancer cells to grow, and when estrogen attaches to the receptors, they grow and multiply. Once breast cancer is removed, the cells are tested to see if they have hormone receptors, and if either estrogen or progesterone receptors are present, a response to hormonal therapy is very possible. The more estrogen or progesterone receptors present on those cells, the more likely that hormonal therapy will work against the particular cancer. If high levels of both estrogen and progesterone receptors are present, an even greater response to hormonal therapy is likely.
Estrogen and progesterone travel through the bloodstream and find their matching receptor sites on both healthy cells and cancer cells. Receptors are protein molecules that rest on the outside or inside of the cells in your body acting like an on–off switch for cell activities. If the right substance comes along that fits into the receptor, much like a key opening a lock, cell activity is unlocked.
It seems that many breast cancers are hormone-dependent—which means that estrogen and progesterone stimulate their growth by "turning on" hormone receptors in the cancer cells. Without these hormones, the cancer cells are not stimulated to grow, so they wither up and eventually may die.
Study Shows Lack of Sleep More Dangerous to Women
A new study by the University of Warwick and University College London points out that women who get less than the recommended eight hours sleep a night are at higher risk of heart disease and heart-related problems than men with the same sleeping patterns. Researchers found that levels of inflammatory markers vary significantly with sleep duration in women, but not men.
The study was published July 1 in the American Journal Sleep, and stated that it found levels of Interleukin-6 (IL-6), a marker related to coronary heart disease, were significantly lower in women who reported sleeping eight hours as compared with seven.
The second marker, High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), is predictive of future cardiovascular morbidity. Levels of hs-CRP were significantly higher in women who reported sleeping five hours or less.
T.S. Wiley has long been talking about the issues of women and sleep after writing her first book, "Lights Out: Sleep Sugar and Survival." History tells us that the diseases of civilization all hit hard after the Industrial Revolution when electricity gave us inexpensive artificial light. When you add it all up, the national health catastrophe has been about seventy-five years in the making.
Could the loss of sleep be destroying the endocrine clock that controls weight gain? Could how much you sleep really control your appetite? This may shock you. Yes. The prescription for better health is sleep, and it's free.
Wiley tells us there is simply WAY too much light in our society today. People don't sleep enough anymore. The real truth is that the urgent need to sleep is also the cause of Type II diabetes and other diseases of aging.
The answer lies in the circadian rhythmicity and evolution. This rhythm is about a 24-hour cycle in the physiological processes of all living beings (animals, plants, fungi and cyanobacteria.). The term "circadian" was coined by Franz Halberg, and it means "around", and dies, "day", meaning literally "about a day." Chronobiology is the formal study of daily, weekly, seasonal and annual rhythms. Circadian rhythms are can be modulated by external cues such as the sun (dawn and dusk) and temperature.
It seems as if almost every woman who hits her 40's succumbs to the inability to stay asleep through the night. It happens in peri-menopause but the truth is, these women never really sleep well for the rest of their lives.
She also strongly recommends rhythmic, biomimetic bioidentical hormones, and you will start sleeping through the night.
you can try the reasonably priced chewable Melatonin tablets available at Trader Joes and let several of them melt in your mouth about an hour before bedtime. (Take one for every hour after dark before midnight, with seasonal light changes.) And then as a last resort, reset your internal sleeping clock. Take Tylenol PM for three days and take a walk outside barefoot at dawn and at dusk.
You need to make sure your bedroom is dark. That means lights out. No moonlight or lamp post lights through the window, and no computer, clock or television screens.
You should really try to sleep for a minimum of nine hours or more of uninterrupted sleep every night.

QUESTIONS REGARDING THE WILEY PROTOCOL ANSWERED HERE
The creams and their amounts are designed to vary throughout the 28 day cycle because your youthful hormone levels naturally fluctuate. The Wiley Protocol targets age 20 as a baseline because heart disease and stroke, Type II diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease are not usual concerns for a healthy young individual. Approximately 80% of women with a uterus who have used the WP have had perfectly normal regular menstrual periods every 28 days. It is recommended that women without a uterus use the Wiley Protocol Lunar Calendar™* Day 11 or 12. Day 12 is better to see the estrogen peak. Check both estradiol and progesterone on both days. Day 21 is the progesterone peak but check both progesterone and estradiol. Try to do this about three or four hours after applying your cream. Don't put cream on the area where the needle will enter. Why does the Wiley Protocol advocate high doses of hormones?Because WP is biomimetic, it has been designed to mimic the hormone blood levels of a healthy young woman.
What are the optimum blood ranges for the Protocol?*Optimum ranges include:Day 12 estradiol - 350 to 550 pg/dlDay 12 progesterone should be 1-2Day 21 progesterone 10 -22 ng/dl. Day 21 estrogen should be 150-250.Note: These ranges are for a healthy, young 20-25 year old. It is best to use the same lab so you are measuring with the same measurement. Do I have to test blood every month? No, it takes a few months for the receptors to come on board so you may wait until the third month to test and then examine the results with your doctor who may change your Protocol. It is important to look at symptoms too. If you don't feel well and are showing symptoms of being low on a hormone check with your doctor. Thereafter many women only test periodically. It's good to test when you feel good to know what that looks like and also when you feel bad. Stress can bring the levels down very fast. The important thing is you don’t want to be hovering in the area below the blood ranges if you have symptoms.
Why do we need to get blood levels on days 12 and 21?By testing on days 12 and 21 we can assure ourselves that we are reproducing a normal cycle of a younger woman. Since the Basic Wiley Protocol rarely gets blood levels of more than 300 on Day 12, the blood work is a way of justifying to your doctor that you might need more to meet the upper levels to normal. Day 11 or 12. Day 12 is better to see the estrogen peak. Check both estradiol and progesterone on both days. Day 21 is the progesterone peak but check both progesterone and estradiol. Try to do this about three or four hours after applying your cream. Don't put cream on the area where the needle will enter. Checking on both days 12 and 21 will show an inverse relationship between the hormones. Why do we need to get blood tests?Blood tests are done to get a baseline so your doctor can adjust for accuracy. You will also make sure that you are getting into the ranges of healthy young women of 50 years ago who had low levels of diseases of aging. It can be very hard to learn about your symptoms without the help of blood testing.
Why the Wiley Protocol®?The Wiley Protocol is the only HRT that has been developed under the scrutiny of a practicing Oncologist. Over the last five years anecdotal statistics have been gathered from thousands of women ages 19 - 90, at meetings, who are on the Protocol, suggesting a profile of safety and efficacy. Choosing the Wiley Protocol is not only a vote for nature, it is also a vote for science.

A Clinical Study Has Begun
Women deserve hormone restoration that is proven to be safe and reliable. A new study, Bio-identical Hormones On Trial, or B.H.O.T., has begun at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Texas , Tyler . The principal objective of the study is to examine clinical outcomes and quality of life indicators of patients receiving BHRT at 10 to 12 primary care provider's practices. This study is the first of its kind to track and quantify outcomes based on dosing and patterns of administration of BHRT.
Biomimetic Hormone Restoration and Healthcare Costs using a true biomimetic hormone restoration therapy, relief from many menopausal symptoms, such as improved sleep could allow women to live happier and more productive lives. Medicare and other insurance reimbursements for constant doctor visits and endless prescriptions and procedures would be reduced. Quality of life would improve for most symptomatic women and many more women would never have to experience the debilitating effects of being without their hormones.
Every day, forward thinking doctors, now leery of the “Standard of Care” approved synthetics, are choosing safe, effective, biomimetic hormone restoration. By 2030 there will be 57.8 million baby boomers between the ages of 66 and 84 living with many of these health issues. There’s a possibility that those who choose rhythmic replacement, the Wiley Protocol, could age to a healthier more graceful tune. AND I'VE ALREADY SEEN IT HAPPEN!
Because of pharmacies like Westmoreland Pharmacy, women can get The Wiley Protocol
It is my intent to stop Wyeth-Ayerst from destroying the compounding of bio-identical hormones by playing the game by their rules. Many of the doctors I have worked with have shown me the ropes.
Five Easy Pieces
Here’s the plan:
- Step 1: Registering compounding pharmacies across the country to make my invention, the Wiley Protocol®, in a standardized fashion that requires methods, materials, packaging and pricing stabilization overseen by T.S.Wiley, under a contractual pretext wherein T.S. Wiley drives a revenue stream (you) to them in exchange for doing the job right.
- Step 2: Test quarterly their product and rely on you to report your experiences with them.
- Step 3: Publish our feat of standardization of a compounded product in Pharmacy Journals. Until this is accomplished, the FDA won’t ever take bio-identical hormones seriously.
- Step 4: Once we have enough Registered Pharmacies, each donating 10 prescriptions, we can have a legitimate study of a donated consistent product for the treatment of menopause. The study substance must be donated in the US to comply with NIH regulations. No lone Compounding Pharmacy will ever be able to bear the economic burden of a 5000 to 20,000 woman study. This is the only way I can find to beat the system invented by Big Pharma.
- Step 5: Take some of the money made selling Pharmacies packaging with my name on it, that you look for, and finance the study. (pay for indemnification and blood tests)
5 Easy Pieces and we own our future.
To be very clear: I’m asking you to go to a physician who will honor your request to get your prescription for the Wiley Protocol® at a Registered Pharmacy. Pharmacies not Registered, will offer you “generics” which cost more and are not standardized. You all must take the exactly same thing in order to ever study the results and report them in a credible way. I’m also asking you to reward the pharmacists who will help us prove our point and to help them prove to Congress that Compounding Pharmacy is capable of self-regulation and should not be shut down for the economic gain of Wyeth.
Bottom Line
We spend billions of dollars on menopause and get almost no benefit and quite often harm for our desperate efforts. I intend this to stop. We deserve decent, deliberate medical care based on scientific premise and investigation, hence Feminist Medicine. We are half of the world and we live at the center of the other half’s universe. We are mothers, sisters, daughters and grandmothers as well as lovers and business partners. We shape and defend the world of men and children. When we feel bad, everyone suffers. – T.S.Wiley
Until we have enough pharmacies to realize our goal, we intend to gather your data soon in this spot on the website using the North American Menopause Society’s Questionnaire for symptoms and registering your blood work results if you defer HIPPA privacy regulations. We are currently reviewing software solutions for sifting the data we can gather to report to medical journals.

Today's testimonial from Susan!
46 y/o female here to discuss hormone issues and review her labs. Patient says she is starting to get hot flashes that occur randomly. Trouble sleeping at night. Bad migraine headaches that she never had before. Brain fog. No energy. Having memory changes. Patient says that these changes have started to gradually get worse since last summer. Has one good week of the month. Patient says her menses are heavier now and are irregular.
FOLLOW UP VISIT TODAY 7/2009
46 y/o female here for follow up of cycle three. She says she is feeling great. Patient says she is sleeping better. Her mood is better. She doesn't have the headaches and the mood changes and brain fog like she used to before her menstrual cycle when she just wanted to be left alone. Patient says she thinks she is a lot nicer now since being on the protocol. She was always stressed and felt before like she was running around but getting no where. Now she says she feels more focused, more relaxed, more able to concentrate. Patient said she has noticed differences every month since starting the protocol in April. The first month patient had small changes and was getting some hot flashes but by the second month the hot flashes were gone and by the third month the changes really started to become noticeable. Patient says she is really amazed at the results.

MY COMMENT: THIS WOMEN HAD A HYSTERECTOMY 40 YEARS AGO AND LOOK AT THE PATH SHE HAS GONE DOWN. IT'S TRUE, IF YOU HAVE NO HORMONES THE PATHWAY SURELY WILL BE EITHER "CANCER, DEMENTIA, AUTO IMMUNE DISEASES (LIKE LUPUS, ARTHRITIS, DJD), HEART DISEASE, OSTEOPOROSIS (WHICH MEANS HIP FRACTURES, KNEE REPLACEMENTS)...JUST TO NAME A FEW. I SEE IT EVERYDAY IN MY OFFICE LADIES! SO FOR ALL YOU MEN OUT THERE GET YOUR WIVES TO SEE THE CHANGES IN THEM. GEORGE DID AND ARLENE HAS BEEN ON THE WILEY PROTOCOL FOR ONLY 1 MONTH AND EVEN "I" CAN SEE THE CHANGES BEGINNING IN HER!

The Hormone Cure. (2009, July 13). First, 34-39. FROM OPRAH!!
The result “Women with normal imbalances end up living half lives, “ he says. The Power of Believing What your Body Says:Given that conventional medicine isn’t attuned to the hormonal fluctuations that can bring on chronic tiredness, weight gain, insomnia and more, who can you, trust? Your own body. “Homing in on key symptoms can usually reveal which hormone is causing trouble, explains Dr. Northrup. Then women can correct their levels by making dietary adjustments and if necessary, pursuing treatment with a bioidentical hormone.” When the problematic hormone is progesterone, women can self treat with an over the counter cream; when its estrogen, and ob-gyn can prescribe bioidentical estrogen. (EXCEPT THAT PROGESTERONE NEEDS THE RECEPTOR MADE BY ESTROGEN IN THE FIRST 12 DAYS)It’s really that simple. Why your doctor is less familiar with bioidenticals? The history of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) often omits one critical fact: When pharmaceutical companies created the hormones that go into their formulations, they intentionally used compounds that had been chemically tweaked. The motive? Profit. Such altered hormones can be patented and patented medicines bring in many millions of dollars more than medicines that aren’t. The downside is that this can cause trouble for patients: IF you think of a hormone receptor as a lock and the hormone itself as a key, it’s easy to see how a key that’s altered could jam the lock. So why do doctors favor these faulty keys? The pharmaceutical industry puts billions of dollars into funding research and the continuing education of medical personnel. Those dollars also pay for studies that prove efficacy and safety. Bioidentical hormones, on the other hand, are chemically identical to the hormones that occur in the human body and so can’t be patented. At the most basic cellular level, the body recognizes and uses bioidentical hormones just as it would its own,” explains Dr. Randolph. Mounting research concurs. A recent review of more that 200 clinical studies in the Postgraduate Medical Journal found that bioidentical hormones are more effective than their synthetic counterparts. Plus, compared with synthetics, bioidenticals come with a sharply reduced risk of breast cancer and heart disease. “These results cemented my conviction that bioidentical hormones should become the preferred method of hormone therapy,” says study author Kent Holtorf, M.D., head of the Holtorf Medical Group in Torrance, California. Fortunately, there’s no need to wait. FIRST discovered that it is possible to find supportive doctors and natural hormonal help. Here, the stores of women in their thirties, forties and fifties who did it and ended up feeling more amazing than they ever expected. Oprah’s Bioidentical break-through: When Oprah Winfrey touted the benefits of bioidentical hormones on their show, she drew fire from mainstream doctors. But despite the controversy, she’s a firm believer. “After one day on bioidentical estrogen, I felt the veil lift,” She wrote of her menopausal symptoms in O, The Oprah Magazine. After three days the sky was bluer, my brain was no longer fuzzy, my memory was sharper. I was literally singing and had a skip in my step.”The Hormone Cure. (2009, July 13). First, 34-39.

Please Read This!!! It's True Information!
I am not one of those “old people” put in the corner or, worse, put in a nursing home. Nope, not me, I got it early on. I wanted to live, really live. So I jumped on the fast-moving train of new medicine and never looked back. My friends laughed at me . . . called me a “nutcase” and a “health freak,” but who’s got the last laugh now? Huh? I won . . . I am vital, I am active; I am a productive member of society. Because of my great health, I am not a drain on the system; I don’t need pharmaceutical drugs. It would be nice if the government could grasp the wisdom of the supplements, bioidentical hormones, and detoxification that I have embraced for the last forty years. It would be great if they could understand and attribute this nondrug regimen to my fantastic health and sharp thinking and provide it free of charge to all our citizens. It certainly would save the government a lot of money in the long run, and bankruptcy would not be looming; unfortunately, big business is still in the way. But I feel lucky—I understood early on. I was not going to blindly accept outdated medicine. I knew if I were to survive in this toxic, stressful, polluted world I had to approach my health differently. I also understood that drugs were not going to be the answer for me unless absolutely necessary. I did have cancer once, but thank God I banked my stem cells in my early sixties, so I would be able to rebuild my immune system if the cancer ever came back. That was a relief for me. I could let go of the worry. I’ve been fine ever since. And those nanotechnology (nondrug) patches I have been using for the last forty years have really helped. Any time I experienced pain or low energy or sleep problems or weight problems, or the need for detoxification (if I wanted to kill off the free radicals that are part of today’s toxic world), I put on one of the patches and the problems went away, with no need to turn to drugs. I saw what happened to so many of my contemporaries, most of whom
died early on from diseases that could have been rectified with hormones and cutting-edge, nondrug technologies. Instead, they chose the pharmaceuticals given them by their trusted doctors until they were “out of gas” and “wacky.” I loved these people, but my theories were so radically different from what their doctors were telling them that I had to back off. I hung in there with my beliefs. I knew this was the better way. Those around me lovingly smirked and mocked my approach, and now it’s too late for them. “I told you so” seems empty.
I’m a believer in pharmaceuticals: My friend’s nephew is a schizophrenic and those drugs have allowed him to live a somewhat normal life. I always say, “That’s what drugs are for”—pain, infection, and mental illness. Without those drugs he would be in a mental home, but instead
he gets to live with his family. They are a godsend for him. I have stayed healthy all these years by eating good and real food; I realized early on the value of nutrients. It was simple, I thought: Good food results in healthy cells. I grew my own food and ate organic as often as possible. I never knowingly consumed chemicals. I replaced my declining hormones, which kept me happy and energetic, and I tried to avoid toxins in the house and the environment. I always knew chemicals could no longer be avoided completely in anyone’s life, so I did what I thought was the smart thing; I went to those antiaging doctors and they gave me intravenous drips of vitamin C and glutathione and other treatments to “build me up.” My friends really got a laugh off that one, but again, who’s laughing now?
Those treatments helped me stay limber and healthy and have kept my brain sharp. Maybe that’s what I am enjoying the most. I can think . . .my brain is not foggy, I am not forgetful. I remember dates and the past, I keep a journal on my computer, and hasn’t the Internet been a great connection to information and the rest of the world? I could spend all day doing that but I really don’t have time. I have my business and then there is daily exercise and Alan and I go out dancing once or twice a week. We both really enjoy that. The second half of my life is filled with satisfaction. It’s better than it’s ever been. Who knew ninety-four was going to be such fun and so productive?
Who knew my 94-year-old husband would remain so sexy? The new career I embraced at sixty-five has brought me great contentment and financial rewards. My friends retired and became bored, but not me. It’s as though I have found the golden key. I feel I have it all: a great family, great children and grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, great health, great marriage, and great sex! And it’s not over. . . . I am ready and eager for what life brings next. I know I’m going to get old one day, but at the moment it doesn’t even appear to be on the radar. . Also next month I am hosting the wedding of my great-greatgranddaughter at our house. So I’m very busy dealing with caterers and rentals; I am going to do the flowers myself—I mean, who grows more gorgeous roses than mine?
THIS is, of course, a hypothetical situation, but with the way I am living now, I firmly believe it is entirely possible that I will be living the life I just described into my nineties and beyond. Sound too good to be true? It’s not—with breakthrough medicine, the future is now. It is never too late
to start, but it is also never too early!
If you’re thirty-five, get ready! It’scoming, and sooner than you think. When you are young, you never think about your health—it’s a given; but the earlier you understand the benefits of embracing what you are about to learn, the better the quality of life you can continue to enjoy without fear that you will end up sick and in a nursing home. Your future is not so far away. It’s important, crucial, to take the steps now—today—to reset the course of your health. It’s not difficult; it just requires a few simple but crucial steps to change the outcome of your life. It is a choice; continue your present unhealthful lifestyle, poor diet, and overuse of pharmaceuticals and experience a slow but sure, painful, unhealthy, sick life with dementia, heart disease, and probably cancer. Or choose to make a few simple changes starting today and enjoy a long life
of vibrant, joyous energy and magnificent health. I practice BREAKTHROUGH MEDICINE and I have never felt better, been healthier, or had more energy in my life. I wake up excited for each day to begin; my brain is sharp, my libido is active, and my outlook is always upbeat. I am experiencing this quality of life through the knowledge I have obtained from the doctors in this book. I have embraced a new approach to my health that is about prevention and not waiting for a debilitating diagnosis. We can grow old in great health. We can age with our brains intact and
our energy at youthful levels. The model of the aging person of today will no longer have to be a part of our future. There is no reason to fall apart the way our older population is now. Our bones do not have to turn to powder. Our brains do not have to become demented. Cancer and heart
disease do not have to be an inevitable part of our future. But we have to start now!
The cutting-edge, Western-trained doctors in this book are truly onto something and they are excited; they all realize that the way medicine has been practiced for the past fifty years is no longer relevant in today’s world. We are under the greatest environmental assault in the history of mankind; we live in a world of unbelievable stress and pollution. Our
bodies are no longer able to tolerate this assault and as a result people are sick. It is inevitable that something has got to change, and that is what this book offers. We can change our fate, we can take charge of our health. We do not have to expect sickness as we age. We can replace our
lost youthful hormones, we can reverse the dietary habits that are starting to wreak havoc on our bodies, and we can supplement what is missing from our food supplies and what has been depleted from our soil. But we have to start now. At present most of us are existing to some degree at the whim of pharmaceuticals. We have a pill to make us sleep, a pill to normalize our moods. We live on antacids for our churning stomachs and take tranquilizer
to calm down; we take pills to lose weight, pills to control our water retention, pills for bloating, pills for headaches, pills for aches, pills for pains, and pills for erections! Yet with all this medication, nobody feels . . .good. Nobody is thriving. Pills are not the answer; pills are a Band-Aid. And, ultimately, they are one’s demise. The toxic buildup of pharmaceutical chemicals in our bodies eventually backs up. You see it everywhere; it’s all around us: aging people who can’t think or walk or take care of themselves. The present pharmaceutical model most conventional doctors follow can lead directly to the nursing home. None of us ever believe
that we would be one of the ones to suffer this horrible end, this terrible fate. Yet without changing the way you approach your health at present, the likelihood is that you will one day find yourself sitting in your wheelchair, drugged into a medical stupor, and left to die alone, lonely, and sick. It happens every day.
Senior people always say the same thing: “As long as you have your health.” We laugh it off when we are young, but imagine living the life you are watching with your aging, senile, feeble parent or grandparent. What makes you think the same won’t happen to you? In many cases our
aging parents did not experience anywhere near the chemical assault that we are in this millennium. This is a big change. Stress is blunting our hormone production earlier and earlier, chemicals have slipped into our food, toxins are all around us in our homes, in the air we breathe, in the water we drink. In fact, in Los Angeles we recently were “treated” to fluoride in our water. Fluoride is a toxic-waste by-product of the aluminum manufacturers, which doesn’t prevent tooth decay, yet now we in southern California are drinking it, bathing in it, cooking with it, watering our vegetable gardens with it—and we are actually paying for it. What are we thinking? It’s no accident the doctors in this book realize that the present Western “standard of care” model is not working. There is no drug at the moment that can mask the real problem—which is toxicity, stress, pollution, and their effects on the human body. The interviews with these courageous doctors will change your attitude, change your health, and set you on a path of feeling well and energetic. They all share their life-altering secrets to successful health and aging and how to achieve it. The true breakthrough is understanding that you are in charge of your health. Only you can turn it around, and the good news is that it is easy to do. Technology and new medical approaches have made it possible for all of us to live years beyond any time frame the human species has ever before imagined—but without quality of life! Who wants to live a long life without good health and a working brain? Living to ninety and one hundred years (some say it could be more like 120 years) will be normal for those of us alive today. Imagine living that long with your brain intact, your body in good health, disease-free and with strong bones and lots of energy. No longer do we have to expect disease as we age (and we are aging younger and younger; in fact, thirty-year-olds are starting to have problems once associated with much older people). Alzheimer’s now affects people in their forties, fifties, and sixties. This has never happened before. What has changed? What are we doing wrong? Why hasn’t the conventional medical community anticipated this? The sad but true fact is that dementia in thirty-year-olds is predicted in the next twenty years in epidemic proportions, due to years of high intake of chemicals from seemingly benign everyday habits such as consuming diet soda and food additives. Dementia in young people! This is un-precedented. By embracing this information, by reading each interview with these amazing doctors, you will find the well-researched, cutting-edge information to live a long, healthy, energetic life without drugs. Breakthrough is in part a collection of interviews with the preeminent antiaging doctors of the world. Each of these doctors has had the courage and integrity to stand back and realize that the way he or she was taught medicine in our most prestigious medical schools is no longer working in the world in which we all live today. Technology now allows us to live longer, but we are stressed beyond belief. We are consuming chemicals in amounts (knowingly or unknowingly) that are lethal; we are severely hormonally imbalanced, and we are uninformed about the incredible positive effects of good nutrition. We are getting cancers at younger and younger ages. Alzheimer’s is sucking the minds from our elders and sneaking up on the unsuspecting young. We all hope and pray it won’t be us, but at present most people are on a fast-moving train to disaster and they don’t know how to jump off. From each of these physicians I set out to discover how to avoid this fate. Each interview is a personal appointment for you; in fact, it’s better than an appointment. Over a period of weeks I had the opportunity to spend hours and hours probing their fantastic brains to get a sense of their individual passions. We went back and forth, so many phone calls, always with yet another breakthrough to share. There is very little ego among professionals in the antiaging field. Because there is so much new information, each doctor is eager to share with others. They are one another’s teachers. The several conferences a year that these doctors attend are not pharmaceutically funded (meaning they have to pay their own way), so no agenda dictates their ideas. Each doctor is there to share something they have uncovered by utilizing what was once known as the “art of medicine,” the kind of medicine we have always hoped we would have, where the doctor actually sits back and thinks about what makes sense. In essence they connect the dots. You see, the dots don’t connect when dealing with pharmaceuticals; they become crutches or Band-Aids, never really healing, just maintaining and usually causing problems from side effects that are sometimes worse than the condition for which the drug was originally prescribed. When it comes to good heath and aging, we simply need to put back what we have lost. Maintain our hormones at optimal levels and reconsider food as fuel: Both build health and give energy. Bioidentical hormones are at the base of this approach, because hormonal decline creates a decline in you. Without youthful hormones you are no longer you. Anyone who is in hormonal decline can attest to that fact, and younger and younger people are in hormonal decline due to enormous stress and toxic overload. Bioidentical hormone replacement is a must to remain youthful, healthy, and energetic, but this book takes it further. We start with bioidenticals, but then we go body part by body part, identifying the weakness in the body and then strengthening it. There will be no more sudden deaths when you embrace breakthrough information, because you will now have the knowledge to catch a problem before it manifests. The news is good. We no longer have to expect the inevitability of cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, or life in a nursing home. We have become so used to disease in this country that we are no longer shocked when an older person (and nowadays even younger people) gets a serious illness. I’ve already had my brush with a serious disease and, because of that, I realize information is the key to understanding how to avoid the lifestyle and dietary habits that had allowed my body to become weakened, the way it once was when I played host to breast cancer. I want to be around for a long time, so I take all this new information seriously.
It’s no joke, this is serious . . . deadly serious. Women in particular are unwell: out-of-control weight gain, inability to sleep, stomach problems, aches, pain, stiffness, bad knees, bad hips, no libido, and then the lifethreatening conditions—heart disease, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis, heart attack, stroke, lupus, fibromyalgia, dementia, Alzheimer’s, brain tumors, mental problems. Where are these conditions and diseases coming from? It is not normal to be sick because we are aging, yet that is what we have come to expect. HOW do you feel about getting those twenty or thirty extra years technology now provides if you are not in good health? How do you feel about the possibility of a life without a working body or brain? That’s not such a good thing. Suddenly those “extra years” are a burden. Quality of life is what living is all about. Technology has found the key to longevity, yet quality of life has not been addressed by the scientific community in those
extra years. Here’s where breakthrough, the changing face of medicine, comes in! To live a long life in vibrant health requires a shift in thinking. All behavior patterns are broken by “shifts in thinking.” Between chemicals, pollution, stress, and overuse of pharmaceuticals, it’s a battle to maintain good health. The way we have been taking care of ourselves is no longer working, evidenced by the sickness we see around us. A change is necessary. At present in our country we do not practice “health care.” We think we do, but in reality we practice “disease care,” meaning, we go to the doctor when we are already in a diseased state. To take advantage of the breakthroughs we have achieved in new cutting-edge medicine, a shift in our thinking is required: a commitment to practicing true health care from here on in to enjoy a long, healthy life. So what does that mean? True health care means we go to the doctor when we are well. Most of us wait until we have “conditions” or disease before we drag ourselves to the doctor’s office. We are not encouraged to be proactive about our health. We are not encouraged to think about health care in terms of prevention. Most of us go to the doctor like children waiting to be told what to do. Generally, we don’t think for ourselves as to what we feel would be best for us. We’ve been lulled into thinking that our doctors know best. But our doctors are restricted by
their workload and time constraints. If you are part of an HMO, you already know that your doctor has only about eight minutes to spend with you. It’s hit or miss, maybe he or she will get it and maybe not. Because we have chosen not to be “in tune” with the language of our body (aches, pains, burning, coughing, etc.), we wait too long, until we are already sick, and then there is no choice but to resort to pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, or surgery. Surgery is fantastic and there are those of us who have had no choice but to resort to cutting and repairing. We are fortunate because American surgeons are the best on the planet, but what if we could be so
in tune with our health that we catch a problem before it has the chance to manifest as something requiring such a drastic approach? Medicine is advancing by turning away from the crutch of pharmaceutical drugs. According to Dr. Jonathan Wright, “We can achieve perfect
health using nature’s tools”: hearing can be restored, macular degeneration can be reversed or at least stopped, and in some cases infections can be treated more effectively with natural approaches. There are intravenous treatments to flush out the toxins that are debilitating precursors to disease. Dr. Michael Galitzer feels we can beat cancer: “We can learn to
live with cancer by staying a step ahead of it, building up the body to keep the cancer at bay.”
We can restore brain cells by taking a simple, natural supplement that is neuron protective. We can heal the gut damaged by years of over-thecounter drugs, antibiotics, and poor nutrition. Often these conditions can not only be healed but reversed as well. The first and most important step to real health care is to understand how your body works. This book will teach you that in layman’s terms. Knowledge is power. Most of us sit in our doctors’ offices quietly expecting
them to know how our body is feeling. No one can possibly know your body as well as you do. We need to learn to listen to our bodies. If you have constant burning, swelling, indigestion, coughing, choking, or constipation, that is your body talking (screaming), letting you know that all is not well. We hear the chatter for months and sometimes years before we decide to find out what is going on. By then, we are usually in a condition that requires surgery or major drugs, most of which are designed to keep us on them for life. Breakthrough medicine is a fast-moving train. There are thousands of incredible doctors around the world who have come to realize that the
way they have been taught to treat their patients no longer works. It’s a collective consciousness that brings these doctors together from all points of the world. It is as though they all came to the same conclusions at the same time. In this book I will take you to the best of them. This is your opportunity to tap into the latest and best breakthroughs medicine has to offer. These are doctors who have “stepped out of the box” to find a better way—medicine that uses pharmaceuticals only as a last resort. This type of medicine has been practiced in Europe for decades. Europeans are healthier than we are. They eat better food, real food; they don’t use
chemicals as liberally as we do; and they treat their ailments homeopathically, resorting to Western medicine and antibiotics as a last resort. European doctors have been savvy to bioidentical hormone replacement for the last fifty years. They have understood the need to replace the hormones we lose in the aging process, not only sex hormones but also the major hormones—thyroid, insulin, adrenals, and cortisol. Dr. Thierry Hertoghe of Belgium is known as “the father of bioidentical hormones.” He explains in this book the advantages of real hormone replacement. Europeans did not buy into synthetic hormones the way we did in this country and because of that they have less cancer. Breakthrough is new medicine that, among other things, takes advantage of bioidentical hormone replacement for women and men, understanding
that the decline of hormones in all of us is commensurate with the decline in our health. Individualized bioidentical replacement rectifies the decline. Breakthrough medicine is also having the ability to understand all the “pauses” in the human system and how we can stop these pauses and actually reverse them.
According to Dr. Eric Braverman the pauses are:
• thyroid pause—weakened thyroid
• electropause—diminished brain capacity
• cardiopause—increased heart rate, due to decrease of pumping efficiency
• immunopause—weakened immune system
• menopause—loss of hormones in women
• andropause—loss of hormones in men
• osteopause—loss of bone density
• somatopause—loss of human growth hormone; muscles lose strength and tone
• dermatopause—loss of collagen and elasticity in the skin
of these pauses are reversible if treated with bioidentical hormones and advanced techniques to head off future diseases or health problems. The current medicine we are practicing for the most part is out of touch. Many doctors don’t have the knowledge or the tools to do the job. So, we bombard cancer, attempting to kill it with radiation and poisonous drugs, and antibiotics mount the assault on infections. We surgically carve out diseased tissue as a routine practice. What we call modern medicine is really quite primitive and can accomplish only so much until we invent
new tools—which usually mean more drugs. This is where breakthrough medicine, or what I call “commonsense medicine,” comes in. We now have the information to understand that with a few simple changes we can push back time without drugs.
Breakthrough medicine has 8 Steps to Wellness:
1. Get BHRT
2. Avoid Chemicals and Detoxify Your Body
3. Take Nutrition Seriously
4. Create a Healthy GI Tract
5. Avoid Pharmaceuticals Unless Absolutely Necessary
6. Supplement Your Diet
7. Exercise Regularly
8. Get Proper Sleep
These 8 Steps to Wellness are the cornerstone of breakthrough medicine. This new kind of medicine builds the body up and restores us to youthful hormonal balance, pinpointing the weakest oldest organ or gland, then building up the organ most in decline. By doing so, the body
no longer has to compensate for the weak link and all becomes well. You will also find out about the latest breakthrough advances in technology, including nanotechnology, banking stem cells, and genomics (the science of the human genome), which will make it possible to understand
the genetic origin of disease and then take action to extend life by preventing illness. Genomics will radically change medicine and make it predictive. Cognitive brain-science breakthroughs will protect the aging mind, refresh vital memories, improve physical agility, and promote human performance enhancement. Right now, we can work with doctors who specialize in utilizing exciting new treatments to build up the body: hyperbaric oxygen for cancer patients, infrared sauna to detoxify, intravenous treatments such as vitamin C in large doses, intravenous glutathione, intravenous chelation treatments to detoxify from the excessive pollution and heavy metals we unknowingly take into our bodies, intravenous hydrogen peroxide treatments,
and much more. Breakthrough medicine understands the terrible impact of chemicals
on the human body. Dr. Russell Blaylock’s interview on this topic is lifechanging. You will never drink another diet soda again! Breakthrough medicine stresses the importance of good nutrition, the necessity of avoiding chemicals and toxic sprays and using green household
products instead. This new approach also understands stress and how to eliminate it, the importance of avoiding pharmaceutical drugs unless absolutely necessary, avoiding over-the-counter drugs, and most important, SLEEP. Yes, something as simple as a good night’s sleep and
all its healing benefits are escaping most of us. Going to bed early will prolong your life and keep you healthy. But as you will learn, hormonal imbalance makes sleep impossible. Once you have been restored hormonally, sleep will return, and it is a blessing. Breakthrough introduces you to the doctors who have chosen to move forward with true “health care,” rather than the present “disease care.” This is proactive medicine. We all know it is easier to rectify any problem if it doesn’t get too far advanced. Why wouldn’t the same theory apply to the body? The doctors in this book will help you find natural and effective ways to get off pharmaceuticals unless there are no other options. When you can heal yourself without drugs, why wouldn’t you want that? This book will teach you the way to a natural healthy life, and explain the downward spiral of becoming pharmaceuticalized. Ask yourself this question: Are you getting better on the drugs you are taking or just maintaining the status quo? If you are not getting better, this book offers solutions. Whenever you can heal yourself without drugs you are prolonging your life. Breakthrough will teach you to understand that the toxic buildup in our bodies is killing us, and just what to do to stop that buildup in its tracks. There is an exciting new approach to health and medicine. These simple changes in the way you live your life are not difficult, and the results
are amazing. Breakthrough medicine makes vibrant health attainable. It will allow you to live a long life, maintain your brain, vitality, and energy, with your organs intact and in full working order.
I am a great admirer of antiaging medicine . . . it appeals to my common sense. Drugs will never heal; they abate. Restorative treatment as practiced in anti-aging medicine approaches the body with true healing in mind
